The Jefferson Highway Recreation Center was originally a private swimming and tennis club that had fallen into disrepair through the decades. Since being taken over by BREC it has been utilized as recreational space for multiple activities throughout the year. The existing 7,800 square foot building originally housed a commercial kitchen, restrooms, locker rooms for the since removed pool and a dining hall. The arrangement of these spaces made it very difficult for the client to rent the building out for multiple functions, so Hoffpauir Studio was tasked with providing a new layout to better suit the parks current needs to service the community. The kitchen was downsized and relocated to better serve the main hall while the existing kitchen and locker rooms are going to be transformed into new smaller meeting rooms. Each of the spaces are now accessed off a new central lobby with a core of restrooms. A new entry gateway and trellis will be added to better define the entrance to the event center. The facility and grounds renovation will make this center a revenue generating venue space that the community will embrace for years to come.
